Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how MusicalBoard ("we," "our," or "us") handles information when you use www.musicalboard.com and our browser-based music tools (the "Service").
Audio and device processing
Core features use your microphone and audio output through the Web Audio API. Audio capture and analysis run locally in your browser unless you explicitly export or download a file. We do not store your microphone audio on our servers.
Local browser storage on your device
To make tools usable across page refreshes, the Service writes a small amount of data to storage areas that your browser provides on your own device. This storage stays on your machine; we do not read it from our servers, and we do not transmit its contents to MusicalBoard or any third party.
- Recorded and uploaded audio (IndexedDB). When you record on the Singing Recorder or upload an audio file for local analysis, the resulting audio bytes plus a small metadata record (sensitivity, playback position, MIME type, timestamps) are written to an IndexedDB database in your browser so playback, pitch trace, and spectrum views can be restored after a refresh. Only one take is kept at a time — a new recording or upload replaces the previous one. Cached takes expire automatically after approximately 24 hours, and the Service additionally attempts a best-effort cleanup when the page is hidden (tab close, navigation away, browser exit). You can also remove the current take and its cached copy at any time using the trash (Delete) icon in the recorder controls.
- Tool preferences (localStorage). Settings such as monitor volume, pitch sensitivity, MIDI range, plot overlays, dashboard window layout, scale/metronome configuration, and similar UI choices are saved using the browser's localStorage so the Service feels consistent between visits. These values do not contain microphone audio. You can clear them at any time through your browser's site-data settings; doing so simply resets the tools to their defaults.
- No account, no server-side profile. The Service does not require sign-up, and we do not associate the data above with a personal account on our side.
